Checking Your Beliefs

IMG_8067.PNGSometimes there’s a disconnect between what we know we should believe and what we actually believe. Beliefs are born out of habit and are the day-to-day thoughts that flow through us without us realizing it. And because our beliefs occur so naturally, it’s often very difficult for us to notice whether or not they are faulty or harmful. Want to know what your beliefs are? Finish these statements without pondering on them; just go with your gut and give the first response that comes to mind. GO!

  • Life is…
  • Money is…
  • Love is…
  • Work is…
  • My home is…
  • Education is…
  • My body is…
  • God is…
  • I am…

Now, go back and write those statements down. Really think honestly about where that belief came from (society, parents, church, etc.) and whether you want to continue to accept that belief to be true. If you don’t, rewrite that statement in the form of whatever it is that you want to start believing in. Set your daily intention by repeating that statement to yourself every morning and every time you feel yourself slipping back into your old beliefs! Then, I dare you to compliment yourself on the area that you think you’re struggling in. If your love/dating life has been suffering, compliment yourself by saying, “I am an awesome wife/girlfriend. I have so many great things to offer my partner”. Confused about your education? “I am a hardworking student. I am smart!”. Ready, set, GO!
